Despite having its fair share of problems and competition, Netflix somehow manages to “stay up,” and that’s thanks to certain films and series that are extremely popular with audiences.
So, let’s take a look at this week’s most-watched movies and series from the (still) leading streaming network, worldwide.
This week’s most watched movies on Netflix
- The Man from Toronto – 53,890,000 hours watched;
- Spiderhead – 38,300,000 viewing hours;
- Hustle – 26,050,000 viewing hours;
- Love & Gelato – 25,790,000 viewing hours;
- Sing 2 – 24,270,000 viewing hours;
- Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness – 10,960,000 viewing hours;
- Collision – 8,450,000 viewing hours;
- The Mist – 8,400,000 viewing hours
- Halftime – 8,370,000 viewing hours;
- IT – 8,350,000 viewing hours.
As far as can be seen, the absolute master of horror has not one, but two films in the top 10, although neither of them is newly released. What’s more, a simple search on Netflix will show that there’s a wealth of films and series inspired by his books on offer.
Netflix’s most-watched series, also this week
- The Umbrella Academy: Season 3 – 124,530,000 hours of viewing;
- Stranger Things 4 – 76,910,000 viewing hours;
- Stranger Things 3 – 32,230,000 viewing hours;
- Stranger Things 2 – 31,190,000 viewing hours;
- Peaky Blinders: Season 6 – 30,350,000 viewing hours;
- Stranger Things – 29,210,000 viewing hours;
- The Umbrella Academy: Season 1 – 27,230,000 viewing hours;
- You Don’t Know Me: Season 1 – 21,910,000 viewing hours;
- First Kill: Season 1 – 18,550,000 viewing hours;
- Mav Vs Bee: Season 1 – 18,210,000 viewing hours.
Clearly, the winner of that competition is Stranger Things, the show that is breaking record after record every day and also one of the reasons Netflix continues to stand tall at this point. The show is now the most-watched episodic production in the world, taking on the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, for example. However, it seems The Umbrella Academy is insisting on taking its place soon.
