Earth does not seem like the best place to be right now. Whether it is the slow death of our climate being ruined or the rapid nuclear explosion or AI revolution, it seems there is a lot that can go wrong very quickly.
However, if you are looking for a small glimmer of hope, let me tell you that Takeshi’s Castle, the best challenge TV show ever, is making a comeback. Move over Total Wipeout, get real The Floor is Lava, Takeshi’s Castle, the king of filming people falling over and almost certainly injuring themselves, is back.
The show has already seen its return in Japan, but now in the UK it is coming to Amazon Prime, with narrators in the form of comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis. Stay tuned for when it arrives on August 30.
If you don’t know what Takeshi’s Castle is, get a life. It’s a show in which contestants take on a series of ridiculous challenges to try to tackle the impossible task of breaching the castle’s walls. It’s the Dark Souls of challenge shows, if you will, and many of the classic episodes are available to watch on YouTube if you need a reminder of how good this show was and hopefully will be when it returns.
