Shadow of the Erdtree seemingly already in development since April 2022 – That’s Gaming

FromSoftware has a lot planned this year, including the mech action title Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon (rumors say it will be released on Aug. 25). But it is also working on the first paid expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. Announced in February, the developer has given no further details other than some concept art featuring a dark Erdtree and what looks like Miquella.

But the expansion seems to have been in development longer than many would think. Ziostorm on Twitter discovered the LinkedIn profile of Kenneth (Kin Yue) Chan, lead designer and design manager of Elden Ring and producer/co-director of Armored Core 6. They have also been the lead designer/design manager of Shadow of the Erdtree (previously listed as an “unannounced project”) since April 2022.

That’s less than two months after the game launched, although pre-production likely took place earlier. While this does not indicate the scope of the expansion or how close its release is, rumors claim it will be released after Armored Core 6. So it could arrive late this year, if not early 2024.

Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details. Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
