In a post on his official Twitter account, well-known writer Neil Gaiman talked about the success behind Netflix’s “Lucifer” production.
Gaiman had at least a funny reaction to one of the most watched series of 2021, “Lucifer”, which managed to overtake the absolute success of Netflix “Squid Game”.
The production that perfectly combines fantasy with the classic detective film has its roots in the world of the comic book series “The Sandman”, in which I met Neil Gaiman’s version of the boss of Hell, even before the appearance of Lucifer.
Lucifer focuses on the main character, the one who abandons his position as head of Hell and moves to Los Angeles, while opening his own nightclub, all to later become a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. . All the while, she’s trying to get closer to Detective Chloe Decker, with whom she falls in love. The main character, Lucifer Morningstar, is played by the charismatic actor Tom Ellis with Lauren German as Detective Chloe. Also in the cast are Kevin Alejandro, DB Woodside, Lesley-An Brandt, Rachael Harris and Aimee Garcia.
“Lucifer” was not, at first, so well received by the public
The first season of “Lucifer” was not received with much enthusiasm – not by everyone, at least. In fact, due to negative reviews, Fox considered canceling it after only three seasons. Fortunately, Netflx has decided to save the franchise by taking it over and continuing it – a bet Netflix has won, certainly judging by the current odds of views.
In this regard, writer Neil Gaiman commented on Twitter: “I just want to officially thank @ 1millmams for their attempts to cancel Lucifer before he is released. Their boycott was the cornerstone of signing a contract for Sandman, our comic book series. Without knowing it, you gave us a helping hand, ”Neil Gaiman wrote on Twitter.
