Ned Yost for President?

In the spirit of the 2016 Election, a Public Policy Polling survey of 859 Registered Voters in Missouri gave Ned Yost a 61% approval rating.

There was a time when Royals fans wanted Ned Yost fired. They even booed him off the field in the 6th inning of the 2014 Wild Card Game after Yordano Ventura surrendered a 3-run home run to Brandon Moss to put the A’s up, 5-3. The lead eventually got to 7-3 before the Royals scored 3 in the 8th and tied it in the 9th before walking-off in the 12th. The rest is history as Ned Yost became the 1st manager in MLB history to win his first 8 postseason games to start his career while leading the Royals to their 3rd American League Pennant. He went from goat to hero in the matter of one month.

That’s why it should come as no surprise that a survey conducted by the polling company, Public Policy Polling out of North Carolina, found that 61% of Royals fans approved of Ned Yost performance as Royals manager. That is an approval rating higher than President Obama, Governor Nixon, and every Presidential candidate, both Republican and Democrat. Only 8% of Royals fans disapproved of Ned Yost while 31% weren’t sure.

The survey also found that 35% of Missourians called the Royals their favorite team. That’s compared to 48% of Missourians who call the Cardinals their favorite team, which isn’t bad considering the Cardinals have had more on-field success the past 2 decades.

The approval of Ned Yost also straddles both party lines. 63% of 2012 Obama supporters and 61% of 2012 Romney Supporters approve of Yost performance.

It also transcends ideology lines. Yost has a 59% approval rating with those who identify as “Very Liberal”, a 50% approval rating of those who identify as “Somewhat Liberal”, a 65% approval rating of those who identify as “Moderate”, a 77% approval rating of those who identify as “Somewhat Conservative”, and a 55% approval rating of those who identify as “Very Conservative”.

The Royals are 71-46 and 12 games ahead of the Minnesota Twins for the American League Central lead and they carry the best record in the American League

If Royals fans wanted to, they could get a #VoteYost campaign started and get him elected to public office. I don’t think Yost will want to, but, we’ve seen the power of the Royals fan base when they get behind something.

Ned Yost for Missouri! Ned Yost for America!
