As part of its appearance at CES this year, Volkswagen has announced a new plan for its fleet of cars. To embrace the future, the huge car company will bring ChatGPT to its cars, all in an effort to expand and grow its IDA voice assistant. This means users will have access to an increasingly intelligent voice assistant that can read researched content while driving.
Volkswagen has announced that the ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3, new Tiguan, new Passat and new Golf will all be the first set of vehicles to receive the ChatGPT treatment. It is also noted that the upgraded voice assistant will be able to control the in-car infotainment suite, adjust air conditioning, receive vehicle-specific information and also communicate in intuitive language.
VW does state that there will be no change in the way drivers use their cars. There is no need to create an account or install a new app or system to use ChatGPT, it can be accessed simply by saying “Hello IDA” out loud or by pressing a button on the steering wheel.
