Solana announces cell phone, Web3 store, partnership with Google at Breakpoint 2022

Solana made a series of announcements at its annual gathering at Breakpoint 2022 in Lisbon, scheduled for November 5-7. As the blockchain platform prepares to move into high gear, it announced the launch of smartphones, a partnership with Google Cloud and web3 stores.

According to reports, about 13,000 people were in attendance at one of the four venues for the four-day conference. Solana co-founder Raj Gokal and Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko were also at the event.

During the conference, Solana Spaces CEO and founder Vibhu Norby asked attendees to scan QR codes for giveaways. Later in the meeting at Breakpoint 2022, the CEO of Solana Spaces revealed the Solana Store in Miami. He showed a short video of people moving through the store, adding that anyone in the world can now build their own Solana Store. The CEO also took time to explain the process of building a store and unveiled GeoNFTs. GeoNFTs is an implementation of a non-fungible token that allows users to geotag a location. The ecosystem intends to support solo entrepreneurs interested in doing business with GeoNFTs. Norby stated:

“If you have a GeoNFT, you can trade it 1-for-1 with the exclusive rights to open a Solana store in that area.”

Solana unveils smartphone at Breakpoint 2022

Solana is ready to take the entire ecosystem to a whole new level with some remarkable launches and unveilings. The mobile team announced Solana cell phones “made for people” with distinguished features. Speaking at the conference at Breakpoint 2022, Solana noted that the cell phone would be able to securely store private keys for crypto-currency wallets. Another important development mentioned at Breakpoint 2022 is the Solana decentralized app store (dApp). According to a spokesperson, there is a need for a better user experience in Web3, hence the Solana App Store. There will be no revenue, fees or charges from the Solana decentralized app store. Interested participants can start sending in their proposals starting next January.

The main highlight of the Solana conference at Breakpoint 2022 is the partnership with Google Cloud. According to the announcement, Google Cloud is developing Solana validators that produce blocks for the network. These validators will participate and validate the network. Starting next year, Google’s blockchain node engine will be integrated with the Solana blockchain. Solana developers will have easier access to historical data during collaboration. In fact, Google Cloud will index all the data from Salana and bring it to the BigQuery data warehouse.
