MADRID, May 25. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Russian authorities have affirmed this Wednesday that the port of the city of Mariúpol (southeast) has resumed its operations normally during the day, less than a week after Moscow announced the total seizure of the town.
The spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, has indicated at a press conference that operations have resumed after the end of the demining work in the port. “It has started to work as usual,” he added, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
On May 20, the Russian government announced the seizure of the Azovstal steel mill, the last stronghold of resistance in the city, after the total withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the area, thus completing a siege and offensive that lasted weeks and caused great devastation in Mariupol.
