Moisès Broggi, new ‘university hospital’ of the University of Barcelona

The Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex has acquired the status of university hospital of the University of Barcelona (UB)through the recognition of the Departament d’Investigació d’Investigació i Universitats de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

This accreditation is a seal of qualityThe center explained in a press release this Friday that in order to obtain this seal, a series of requirements must be met, such as having an adequate infrastructure for the development of teaching and research or a minimum number of professors and PhDs.

Currently, the Hospital Complex has 38 professionals assigned with associate professor contract by the University of Barcelona and one permanent professor (associate professor) who is Dr. Pedro Armariodirector of Teaching of the Consorcio Sanitario Integral (CSI).

In terms of doctors, the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex has 67 professionals with doctoral theses and 12 doctoral students (thesis projects in progress).

“With this accreditation we have given a qualitative leap very important because we have gone from being a hospital collaborating with the university to being a university hospital, that is to say, to being a part of the university structurerecognition that very few centers have,” said Armario.

530 UB students

At present, the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex is currently training more than 530 UB students each year: 322 from medicine, 171 from nursing, and more than 30 from other faculties such as Psychology, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Social Work and Neurolinguistics.

The Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex (formed by the Hospital de Sant Joan Despí, the Hospital General de Sant Joan Despí, the Hospital de Sant Joan Despí, the Hospital General de L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and the Hospital Sociosanitario de L’Hospitalet) operates as a single center and belongs to the CSI, a public entity majority owned by the Catalan Health Servicethe town councils of Sant Joan Despí and L’Hospitalet, the Consell Comarcal del Baix Llobregat and the Red Cross.
