BTC, ETH, ADA, BNB ranked among the most watched crypto assets in 2022

While coin market cap aggregation sites allow customers to add their favorite coins to a watch list, between coingecko.com and coinmarketcap.com, bitcoin is the most watched top 10 crypto currency coin in 2022 as it is on approximately 4,848,865 watch lists today.

As 2022 draws to a close, crypto market and price aggregation websites like coinmarketcap.com (CMC) and coingecko.com (CG) are offering watchlists so that visitors can focus on their favorite coins or perhaps the coins held in their wallets. In simple terms, a watchlist is a specific set of crypto assets that a person chooses to monitor that can be viewed without monitoring all the other crypto assets that the person does not care about.

In traditional finance, investors have watch lists for stocks and commodities as well so that they can keep an eye on the market value of an asset. Looking at the top ten crypto assets on December 29, 2022, each crypto coin has a number of how many users have selected a specific coin to add to their watch list. Between the CG and CMC currency market cap aggregation sites, bitcoin is the top coin in terms of watch lists.

At the time of writing on CG, bitcoin is on 1,192,111 watchlists, and on CMC, bitcoin is on 3,656,754 watchlists, which equates to over 4.84 million total watchlists on December 29, 2022. Ethereum is the runner-up with a total of 4,109,238 watchlists, of which 1,104,484 are from CG and 3,004,754 from CMC. Below BTC and ETH, watchlist heavyweights include ADA with 2.94 million, BNB with 2.45 million, and XRP with approximately 2.21 million watchlists.

ADA, BNB, and XRP are followed by crypto-currencies such as DOGE with 2.14 million, polygon (MATIC) with 1.84 million, and tether stablecoin (USDT), totaling 1.52 million on December 29. Although three stablecoins are among the top 10 market capitalizations, dollar-denominated assets are the least watched among today’s top cryptocurrencies. While USDT leads with 1.52 million, BUSD’s watch list count is much lower with 351,265 watch lists.

Just above BUSD is the USDC watch list, which currently has 358,911 watch lists for CG and CMC. At the time of writing, at 2:30 p.m. ET on December 29, 2022, the top ten crypto assets represent $676.08 billion, or 84.72% of the current value of the crypto economy ($797.95 billion). Outside of the top ten crypto assets, shiba inu (SHIB) is an outlier with 2,382,306 watch lists, but the coin ranks 15th in terms of market capitalization.
