Iranian authorities have announced Wednesday the seizure of a ship in the Persian Gulf carrying about 250,000 liters of smuggled fuel, with no information at this time on the vessel’s flag.
The head of the Justice Department in Hormozgan province, Mojtaba Garhamani, has detailed that the operation has been carried out by the Revolutionary Guards, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, and has confirmed that the fuel has been confiscated.
He also indicated that one person has been arrested, without stating his nationality, as reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.
Iran announced in September the seizure of a foreign-flagged vessel allegedly smuggling 757,000 liters of fuel, as part of its operations in the area, which have resulted in several interceptions over the past few months.
