Celestia organizes an airdrop for its TIA token

The project Celestia is preparing to launch its modular blockchain and organizes a airdrop for many L2 Ethereum users and Cosmos Hub.

Celestia Labswhich was raising $55 million in the fall of 2022 from Polychain and Bain Capital, announced on Tuesday the “ Genesis Drop “an airdrop for its native token TIA dedicated to developers and users of Ethereum layers2 and eligible Cosmos Hub.

The Genesis Drop invites 7,579 developers and 576,653 onchain addresses on Ethereum, Cosmos Hub and Osmosis rollups to join Celestia, allowing them to pay for blobspace and secure the network from the first block,” the project reports in a blog post.

The airdrop of Celestiawhich designs a modular architecture to solve blockchain scaling problems, aims to encourage participation in its future network, due to be launched by the end of the year.

According to the announcement, 60 million TIA (6% of the total offer) will be allocated to 4 categories of wallets, including the “top users of Ethereum rollups”, i.e. the “Top 50% of active users of the top 10 rollups by TVL on L2 Beat”.

From today until October 17, 2023, eligible developers and addresses can add their address to the Celestia Genesis block by visiting genesis.celestia.org. Tokens claimed via Genesis Drop will be accessible directly in the wallet from the first block,” says Celestia Labs.

Eligible wallets thus have around 3 weeks to claim their digital coins. TIA will make it possible to participate in network governance.
