Viñales: “I’m looking forward to starting the Grand Prix at home, it’s the extra I need”

The Spanish MotoGP rider Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) acknowledged his illusion of competing this weekend in the Catalunya Grand Prix, his “home” race, on the ninth round of the season and in front of his fans, “the extra” he needs to compete.

“I am looking forward to starting the Grand Prix at home with my people, it is the extra I need. Montmeló is a favorable circuit for us. This weekend we will do much better and hopefully at home I can get my first podium”, Viñales highlighted this Wednesday at the presentation of the Grand Prix at the Port of Barcelona.

Regarding its renewal, the pilot stressed that it is a “new and innovative” project and that it has been brilliant for his career. “I came from different stages, but being able to take on a team that is beginning to grow and for me to grow with them is exciting. It makes you enjoy the process and the work”, he opined.

“I enjoy MotoGP. The championship is very exciting. All the manufacturers are very even. There is a need to polish aspects. Everything is different and new, I need time, but in a sport where time is everything we have to go fast and move forward,” he added about your performance.

Asked about his teammate, Aleix Espargaró, Viñales highlighted the good relationship they maintain. “The partner thing was always more taboo. At Aprilia we are managing to create a bond between everyone. We have different ways of riding, but the result is there. For them it is interesting to have two people who can ride differently and make the bike work,” he said. .
