“We are pleased to welcome freestyle skiing and sport climbing to the Canada Games program for 2027. The CGC looks forward to working alongside the Host Society, Freestyle Canada and Climbing Escalade Canada to host successful competitions at the 2027 Canada Winter Games.” – Catherine Gosselin-Despres, Chair, CGC Sport and Games Committee
“Today’s announcement is the result of a rigorous selection process, relentless teamwork and several weeks of consultation. We are truly proud of the selection of freestyle skiing and sport climbing as optional disciplines to be presented here in 2027. Québec is unquestionably a national, if not a world centre for freestyle skiing. And what more can we say about the momentum that the 2027 Canada Winter Games will give to climbing, a sport presented for the first time as part of the event and crowned a new Olympic discipline. Once again, we can confirm that the 2027 edition of the Games promises to be a breathtaking spectacle for athletes and spectators alike!” – Denis Servais, President of the 2027 Canada Winter Games Host Society
