Macron will take possession of his second term this Saturday at the Elysee

The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, will be proclaimed again as head of state this Saturday, May 7, in a ceremony that will take place at the Elysée and that looks more sober than five years ago, when the liberal leader ascended to the power.

Macron was re-elected on April 24, but his ceremony and investiture was only known until now that it had to take place before May 14. Finally, it has been agreed that it will be this coming Saturday morning, according to the Elysee.

The ceremony will start at 11:00 a.m. and, after Macron’s arrival, the President of the Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, will formally announce the results of the latest elections. The program also provides for a speech by Macron.

The protocol establishes a series of routines for this type of act, although this time the focus is on what Macron can do before and after starting his second five-year term, for example with the appointment of a new prime minister.

On May 8, he is scheduled to visit the monument in memory of the unknown soldier in Paris, while a day later, on Monday, he will give a speech at the European Parliament headquarters in Strasbourg, on the occasion of the formal closure of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE).

Macron also has his sights set on the legislative elections on June 12 and 19, in which he has been directly involved to try not to lose the majority. On Sunday he validated one by one the 577 candidacies of The Republic on the Move (LREM) for these elections, according to sources cited by Franceinfo.
