Argentina sends humanitarian aid to Cuba after the passage of hurricane ‘Ian’.

Argentine authorities have informed this Monday that they have sent humanitarian aid to Cuba after the passage of hurricane ‘Ian’, which has caused severe power outages throughout the island.

The Foreign Ministry has thus confirmed the shipment of assistance and pointed out that the products will be supplied through the Argentine Agency for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance – White Helmets (ACIAH).

Thus, the Government will send 19 boxes of water purification tablets that will make it possible to purify up to 950,000 liters of water, which is equivalent to the supply needed by about 2,000 people for three months, according to a statement from the Ministry.

“This input is essential to collaborate with the Cuban government’s response to the needs of the population of Pinar del Río, the city most damaged by the climatic phenomenon affected, above all, the west of the Caribbean country,” the text states.

In addition to the aforementioned aid, Argentina is preparing to send kitchen kits, which could be delivered to those who have been displaced and need basic products to guarantee their food.

Hurricane ‘Ian’ claimed the lives of at least two people in the western Cuban province of Pinar del Rio and caused the displacement of more than 50,000 people in the west and center of the island.
