“Any new package of sanctions against Russia that does not affect oil will be received in Moscow with a smile,” Zelensky said.

MADRID, 12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has assured that Ukraine is currently one of the “most contaminated” countries by mines in the world and has denounced that the laying of mines by Russian troops “should be considered a war crime”.

“The occupiers left mines everywhere. They mined people’s property, they mined cars, doors. They consciously did everything to make returning to these areas after vacancy as dangerous as possible,” he said.

“I think this should also be considered a war crime by the Russian troops. They deliberately went to great lengths to kill or maim as many of our people as possible, even when they were forced to withdraw from our land,” he added.

The Ukrainian president has reported that, during Monday, he has met with a group of experts to launch a special mechanism “for pre-trial investigation and judicial review of all war crimes committed by the occupants”.

“We are working on a legal way to bring the occupiers to justice, which will be as effective and quick as possible. Not to wait decades until all international legal procedures are completed, but to speed up the initiation of justice,” he said. indicated.

Zelensky has also indicated that Russian troops are preparing “a new stage of terror” against Ukraine, since Russian leaders have discussed the use of chemical weapons on the city of Mariupol. “We take this as seriously as possible,” he added.

NEW PACKAGE OF SANCTIONS

The Ukrainian president has also highlighted his contacts with the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr; the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, as well as with the President of the African Union and the President of Senegal, Macky Sall.

“This week I will continue this format of communication with partner countries. Tomorrow I will address the Parliament and the people of the Republic of Lithuania,” he said. Thus, Zelenski has assured that Ukraine “continues to depend” on the supply of arms from its partners.

For this reason, he stressed that “responsibility will remain forever in history.” “The lives of the Ukrainians are being lost. Lives that can no longer be returned,” said the Ukrainian president.

“Just as our gratitude will go down in history. Gratitude to the states and politicians who really helped. Who did not waste time. Who did not haggle when life depended on aid,” Zelensky said.
