OBD2 & GPS: This head-up display can do both
Most vehicles built in 2008 or later have an OBD connection, which is usually only used by workshops to diagnose errors if something is wrong with your car. But did you know that you can use this OBD connection not only for reading out error messages, but also for interesting information about the current condition of your vehicle can use?
Retrofit heads-up displays access this information in real time and project it onto the windshield. You must do not take your eyes off the road while drivingto keep track of your speed. The design is simple and does not distract from what is happening on the road.
The installation is very simple: The scope of delivery includes both a USB cable with OBD connection and a simple USB to USB cable that you can plug into your 12V socket if your car does not have a freely accessible OBD connection. The head-up display also gets power when it calculates your speed from the GPS signal.
In the best case, however, you connect the head-up display to the OBD port of your car. This is located mostly under the steering wheel, often behind a plastic cover. You can then run the cable up inconspicuously along the door seal. The head-up display gets more information that it can show you via the OBD connection than in GPS mode.
