Oppo has officially announced the new Find X5 Pro, its flagship for the year 2022 on the smartphone market, which it has previously confirmed. In fact, I already knew more details about this model at the hardware level, confirmed even by Oppo officially, but I also knew that it is developed in partnership with Hasselblad. Along with Find X5 Pro, the company also announced Find X5 “standard”, also a high-end model, but equipped with another processor.
Find X5 Pro introduces 5-axis stabilization for the first time on a smartphone
It is clear from the partnership with Hasselblad that the camera system on the Oppo Find X5 Pro is the main attraction of this phone. We are talking about a model equipped with two 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensors, dedicated to ultra-wide and wide cameras. The zoom camera is a more modest 13 megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom capabilities.
All these cameras receive advanced processing thanks to a new image processor called MariSicilon X, built by Oppo on 6nm architecture and which will allow the application of advanced algorithms to improve the recorded photos and videos. We are talking about the possibility of reducing the image noise level, recording 4K video material at night and improving the colors and details captured in all situations.
Of course, the partnership with Hasselblad also comes with the “Pro” mode, which comes with its own color profile, calibrated by the Swedish camera manufacturer. Hasselblad has also created a number of dedicated filters. Oppo says it has also used glass front elements for cameras to eliminate color aberrations and improve color accuracy.
For the first time on a smartphone, we also have a stabilized camera both optically and at the sensor level, for 5-axis stabilization. Thus, Oppo Find X5 Pro will be able to capture clearer images at night, with stabilization up to 3 degrees, when electronic stabilization is also active, while videos will be much more stable.
It seems that the front camera also received special attention, integrating a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor with pixels arranged in RGBW format. Thus, the front camera will be able to capture 60% more light, and the MariSilicon X image processor will automatically correct the colors captured by this unconventional sensor. The camera offers an 80-degree aperture, but will extend the frame to 90 degrees when it detects that there are several subjects present.
In terms of hardware configuration, Oppo Find X5 Pro will benefit from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the most powerful model from Qualcomm, along with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The screen is an LTPO type AMOLED model with QHD + resolution at 120 Hz (dynamic) with touch response at 1,000 Hz. The screen can go up to 1,300 nits. Everything is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery (consisting of two separate cells at 2,500 mAh), with fast charging SuperVOOC at 80W wired and 50W AirVOOC wireless.
The phone is built using a ceramic back cover, which means it’s a pretty heavy model. Find X5 Pro weighs 218 grams and promises water and dust resistance to the IP68 standard. On the front, the screen uses Gorilla Glass Victus glass.
The “standard” model uses a 2021 generation processor
In addition to the Oppo Find X5 Pro, we also have the “standard” Find X5. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 chipset, but does not give up the MariSilicon X image processor. Also, the rear camera system is similar, being equipped with the same sensors. The only thing missing here is the sensor stabilization, the main camera using only “standard” optical stabilization. And the front camera is a little different, using a 32-megapixel sensor with an aperture of only 81 degrees.
Being a smaller phone, with a 6.55 ”screen with Full HD + resolution at 120 Hz, it also benefits from a smaller battery, of 4,800 mAh. Fast charging at 80W per wire remains, but wireless charging drops to 30W. The standard Find X5 configuration is 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. This model is made of glass, not ceramic.
Oppo Find X5 Pro will be launched soon, at a price of 1,300 euros, while Find X5 Standard will start from 1,000 euros. Both will be available in black and white.
