When it comes to wiping robots, nobody can give him the water!

My new roommate is called Saugfried and is a new Deebot X9 Pro Omni from Ecovacs. I’ll introduce it to you.

More and more households are letting the everyday suction and wiping of their floors take over from robots. This does not necessarily have anything to do with laziness, because after all, some people – especially seniors – have problems with the movement, which is why vacuum robots are also a form of accessibility. In my personal case it is 100 %because I am lazy.

I have been turning my apartment into a smart home for several months, but a kind of device has not yet made it into my booth: vacuum robot. The Deebot X9 Pro Omni is also the first vacuum robot, which I can welcome in my four walls. So my experiences with the new flagship from ECOVACS are very fresh and should also show how easy it can be the use of a suction and wiping robot and that complicated sounding features do not have to deter laypersons.

The Deebot X9 Pro and the Omni station: My first steps with the new Ecovacs flagship

Since my roommate is the only one with a car and he was still on vacation last week, I had to carry the large box of the Deebot X9 Pro Omni all by myself. With a total weight of almost 13 kilograms, as a non-strength athlete, I got a little sweat when I ran the path from the subway home. When I arrived in my apartment, I was dragging with one quick and simple out-of-the-box experience rewarded.

The box greets you with simple instructions on a large sheet. Of course, I first read the QR code to install the Ecovac’s home app on my cell phone. After I plugged the base for the entrance at the station and removed the protective material, I had to find a nice place for the station. Since I don’t have as many vacancies on the walls in my booth, it comes to me that the station is just under 48 cm high and below 34 cm wide. It is even a good centimeter narrower than the vacuum robot itself!

If I consider what kind of closet you have to put in the apartment in some suction wipers, I am Really impressed how much fits into the Omni station, even though it is so compact. On the top there are two elegant handles with which the two water tanks – one for clean water, one for the dirty water from wiping – can be pulled out of the wiper to fill or empty them.

Under the lid on the front you will also find the area for the garbage bag and the container for the cleaning agent. With most moped robots you have to put the concentrate in the water in a milliliter-like manner, Here the concentrate simply comes into the container and the right dose is automatically pumped into the robot. But if you are afraid to make the lid every now and then, you can calm down. The bag lasts enough dust for 90 days. The cleaning agent even lasts 150 days! So you have to see the interior of the station very rarely.

The app facility and the first attempt: The adventure of the Saugfried

Now that the station has a fixed position in my apartment, I can start with the first steps of the Deebot X9 Pro. You have to create a free account with Ecovacs via the app and the furnishings can get started. The vacuum robot was easily recognized by my cell phone and I was also allowed to give it a name: Saugfried. The first step was to map the apartment, i.e. through the apartment and all rooms with the sensor.

The mapping went surprisingly well until I recognized a first problem. The journey came to a sudden stop: My thresholds are 2.4 to 2.8 cm and unfortunately he had difficulty overcoming them. Fortunately, I still had 1 cm-high rubber sheets that I can put in front of the thresholds as small steps. So everything from the front again. This time everything worked out wonderfully and with only little effort! I was able to examine the finished map of my apartment directly via the app and assign the right rooms, which is particularly important for voice control.

When it was cleaned, I was really enthusiastic about a feature, the Ozmo Roller-Wischwalze. Especially in the hallway and in the kitchen, where the dirt likes to be more persistent A flash of flash, with just one tap on the cell phone.

The wiping roller automatically drives out on the side in order to wipe the wall or object as close as possible. Anyone who believes that you have to clean the mop every time is wrong. The water is sucked off by the wiper during use and replaced by fresh, which causes Dhe wiped roller continuously cleans yourself during operation. For the hardest test, I smeared a place with vegetable paste for the video and except for a single, tiny piece of paprika shell, the complete spot was completely gone with just one wiper, while the Ozmo scooter Wiped without any problems and without any smear.

In my experience with the mop roller, I actually don’t want to trust any other wiping function.

As a further test, I crumbled a hand breakfast flakes, so that there was a large, heterogeneous bunch of dirt in front of the wall. Such bunches are not dirty, but the suction power and the brushes were still able to convince. The side brush has turned the coarser chunks that it did not make directly under the vacuum robot that they were sucked open later in the middle of the room. So Even in such unusual situations, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni can deliver a damn good results.

As a man with an approx. 50 cm long mane and large full beard, I have a special claim to vacuum cleaners when it comes to hair. With the so -called Zerotangle 3.0 system, ECOVACS promises to be able to absorb hair up to 25 cm in length without being able to absorb and tangle. Even if this function is mainly intended for animal hair, I was pleasantly surprised at this front. The brushes easily transported my hair into the suction module and the floor was completely clean in the end And of dust, stains, crumbs and hair.

Come home to a clean apartment: some more observations after a week of use

After my first test run, I wanted to test a few more functions during the week. After setting up and connection to the WLAN network, the Deebot X9 Pro can also be controlled from far away via the Ecovacs Home app. When I visited my parents for Mother’s Day at the weekend, my father was very amazed at me access the vacuum robot and its camera via my cell phone and drive through my apartmenta little like with a camera drone, only for the ground. What sounds like a nice party trick is a useful control mechanism if you want to check again whether you have really closed all the windows.

The small “cave researcher” Saugfried squeezes under all furniture, even if there are only a millimeter between him and the “ceiling”.

Another important function that was convincing me was the blast (Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology), which thanks to a strong battery cell, which was previously mainly installed in electric cars, delivers an extremely strong performance and term. The 16,600 PA suction power and the air flow of 16.3 liters per second, enables the Deebot X9 Pro to easily pull stubborn dirt out of my carpet. Thanks to different sensors, he recognizes by itself that he drives onto a carpet and immediately moves in the roller so as not to make the carpet moist.

I also like the endurance of the vacuum robot, although I do not necessarily mean the battery life (which never came below 60 %), but how long it takes to empty the dirty water and the full dust container at the omni station. When I completely cleaned my approx. 80 m² apartment, the Debot only had to empty the dust bag and replace the water once. The problem -free navigation to the station and back to the last point and to make obstacles such as table legs contribute to the most important end result: that the bottom of the entire apartment is lightning.

My conclusion after a week: the strengths and weaknesses of the new Ecovacs flagship

These are the strengths: I was enthusiastic about the wiping function and also the suction power on carpets and with hair speak for the performance of the Deebot X9 Pro Omni. The compact omni station is not only very high quality, but is also very easy to maintain. In addition, the station dries the wiping rollers with hot air and kills germs. Control via the app is also simple, intuitive and delivers many functions, such as the remote control with a camera perspective.

These are the weaknesses: With a RRP price of € 1,499, expectations are high and a vacuum robot should come to as many rooms as possible. Unfortunately, it is a major disadvantage that it has to overcome this with 25 mm high door thresholds, which you can easily loosen through a ramp or a plate as a stage, even if this is not always the most elegant solution.

For me, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni is an excellent suction and wiping robot with a very good station, which takes up comparatively very little space for what it can do. I am so convinced of the cleaning performance that I would currently accept my solution with the plates to help the door thresholds. But if you have a house with low door thresholds, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni will convince at least as much as me.
