Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in a tweet Tuesday that the merge is expected to happen between September 13 and 15. The increase in the network’s hash rate is pushing the merge to happen earlier than September 15.
The Bellatrix upgrade is scheduled for today on the Beacon channel at time 144896 at 11:34:47 am UTC. ETH price soars over 6% ahead of Bellatrix hard fork.
The merge is still expected to happen around Sep 13-15. What’s happening today is the Bellatrix hard fork, which *prepares* the chain for the merge. Still important though – make sure to update your clients!

Vitalik Buterin predicts the merger between September 13 and 15
In a tweet from September 6, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin predicts that the merger will take place between September 13 and 15. He also reminds users to update their clients before Bellatrix’s hard fork scheduled at the time 144896 on the Beacon channel at 11:34:47 am UTC.
“The merger is still expected to take place between September 13 and 15. What’s happening today is the Bellatrix hard fork, which *prepares* the channel for the merge. Still important though – make sure you update your clients!”
According to OKLink’s Ethereum The Merge countdown, merger readiness has reached almost 99%. In addition, the network’s hash rate is 892.23 TH/s, still above the required level of 872 TH/s, which is enough to trigger the Ethereum Mainnet and Beacon Chain merge at the total terminal difficulty (TTD) of 58750000000000000000000.
The Bellatrix hard fork prepares the Beacon Chain (consensus layer) for the merger with Ethereum Mainnet (execution layer). All nodes must update clients to validate blocks after the hard fork. The hard fork adds new rules to the protocol.
The next update will be the Paris hard fork, which will take place on the execution layer. It will be followed by the merge between September 13 and 15.
According to the Ethereum Foundation’s recommended merge date tracker, the estimated date is September 15 at 09:44:01 UTC. The data changes depending on the hash rate. However, the most likely date is September 14.
Ethereum (ETH) price rises before the Hard Fork
Ethereum (ETH) price rises ahead of Bellatrix upgrade. The price of ETH has climbed more than 6% in the past 24 hours, with the current price trading at $1,659.
Trading volume has increased by 65%. In addition, Ethereum hit a 24-hour low and high at $1,559 and $1,670. However, the rally will be short-lived, as the ETH price is expected to be deflationary after the merger.
