VIDEO The first trailer for Amsterdam, “collection” of stars: which famous actors will star in the film when you see it in cinemas

The first trailer for Amsterdam effectively shows you the impressive cast of the upcoming film that will be released in cinemas this year.

Starring Margot Robbie, Christian Bale and John David Washington, the film has a real chance of becoming a hit. And when you add Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough and Taylor Swift to the mix, the above statement becomes a certainty.

David O. Russell is an Oscar-nominated director of films such as The Fighter, Three Kings, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. His latest film, 2015’s Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence, received mixed reviews, though it earned Lawrence an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

Russell has also worked with Christian Bale twice before, on American Hustle and The Fighter, the latter of which earned Bale the only Oscar of his career.

First trailer for Amsterdam officially released

The first trailer for Amsterdam introduces you to some of the film’s plot, but still manages to save the important details for when you go to the cinema, focusing instead on the star-studded cast.

Described as a “crime epic,” Amsterdam focuses on “three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking plots in American history.” The “plot” hasn’t been revealed yet, but it all seems to be connected to a murder.

Although the historical nature of the film has not yet been fully exposed, we learn from the trailer that “many of these events actually happened”, and the film’s description says the film is “a riveting and consistent story that fascinatingly interweaves historical fact with fiction for a unique cinematic experience”.

Admittedly, this conclusion could be analyzed in many ways. The cryptic nature of Amsterdam seems to be part of a well thought out marketing strategy that has worked before with other films.

The film will be officially released in cinemas on 4 November 2022.
