Ukraine denounces AI report and CBS documentary as in sync with Russian propaganda

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba denounced Monday that the recent report by Amnesty International (AI) and the documentary by the U.S. network CBS — both critical of the country’s Armed Forces — are in sync with Russia’s propaganda campaigns.

As the head of Ukrainian diplomacy explained in a post on his Facebook social network profile, one of Russia’s main goals is to reduce, or completely prevent, the supply of armaments to the Ukrainian Army by Western powers.

According to Kuleba, Moscow carried out between May and June a “first wave” of disinformation to influence the opinion of the international community regarding the adequacy of arms supplies, although Russia is now engaged, he says, in a second campaign.

“I don’t know whether the Amnesty International report and the lying CBS documentary, which have come out almost simultaneously, are connected to the Russian government. But I am sure that both the organization and the authors of the ‘masterpiece’ have inflicted an unfair and unprovoked information coup all over Ukraine, and absolutely synchronized with Russian propaganda,” the minister said.

It is true that Kuleba acknowledged that both AI and CBS apologized for the report and the documentary, although he criticized that the NGO apologized for “the pain inflicted on Ukrainians” and not for “violating the truth and the reality of this war”. The aforementioned brief accused the Ukrainian Army of operations contrary to international humanitarian law.

Likewise, from CBS expects the results of an investigation to be released to settle responsibilities regarding the broadcast of a piece of “Russian propaganda” questioning whether all the weaponry supplied to Ukraine is actually reaching the hands of members of its Armed Forces.

Nevertheless, Kuleba welcomed the fact that “all these lies” are not having any effect on his allies, as “no partner or organization in contact with Ukraine” has expressed itself in terms similar to “the manipulation of Amnesty International or CBS.”

“Partners know perfectly well where, how much has been donated and how it is used. Fortunately, they do not receive their information from Amnesty International and CBS,” the Ukrainian foreign minister remonstrated in what is a new public criticism of both bodies for material that, according to Kiev, equates aggressor and aggressed.

Finally, Kuleba has stressed that the Ukrainian government “continues its systematic work to counter Russian manipulations,” although he warned that this is a battle “that can never be won forever.” “The Russians are beaten, they leave, and then they enter a new circle,” he warned.

“Ukraine is the target of many who do not wish victory to our people. But we will continue to fight and win together,” the Ukrainian diplomatic representative has concluded.
