UK reiterates call for North Korea to abandon ballistic missile program

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has reiterated to North Korea his call for it to abandon its ballistic missile program on the day he held a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, with whom he discussed Pyongyang’s weapons strategy.

“I urge North Korea to change course and abandon its ballistic weapons program,” Cleverly said on his Twitter account, shortly after visiting the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

The head of British diplomacy has applauded Yoon’s initiative to offer economic support to its northern neighbor, a move he has described as “bold.”

However, he has reproached Pyongyang that its response to Seoul’s proposals have gone through firing more ballistic missiles and failing to comply with UN Security Council resolutions.
