The new British Prime Minister, Lizz Truss, held telephone conversations with the French President and other world leaders on Saturday.
“President Macron has expressed his sincere condolences on the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” Downing Street explained in a statement.
Truss thanked Macron for his words and agreed with the French leader on the value of the “strong UK-France relationship” in the face of issues such as “the energy crisis caused by (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s illegal war” and “other security, defense and strategic issues.”
Truss also held talks on Saturday with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the British government said.
