The actors who lent their voices to Transformers characters Optimus Prime and Megatron performed an improvised scene in a new video posted on Instagram. The clip can be seen below in the footer of this article.
The Transformers franchise began in 1984, with a Marvel Comics series and an animated television show built around the idea. The Transformers came back to life in 2007 with Michael Bay’s Transformers film series, which will release its seventh installment, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, on June 9 next year.
Most of the Transformers franchise has focused on the war between the Autobots and Decepticons after the fall of Cybertron and the leaders of the two factions, Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively.
In the original animated series The Transformers, Peter Cullen voiced Optimus Prime, while Frank Welker stepped into the “skin” of Megatron. The two became known for their roles in Transformers and have, as is only natural, continued to do so.
Transformers actor’s improvisation went viral on Instagram
Recently, the two actors attended the Voices Against Cancer event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and there, Cullen and Welker performed an impromptu scene from the perspective of Optimus Prime and Megatron, complete with Megatron’s evil laugh. Emily Swallow of Mandalorian posted a video of the scene on her Instagram account, writing, “Two Transformers and a weaponsmith ride a bus… I can’t really explain the rest of the joke.”
Cullen and Welker’s brief performance could be a scene straight out of the Transformers series, of course. No one can know to what extent the scene is pure improvisation or even part of the next film.
It remains to be seen if Rise of the Beasts will be able to live up to the success of the previous films in the franchise when it is released next year.
