The League of Legends Super League finalsthe most important esports competition in Spain, will take place at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona the next August 12. The venue, which usually hosts FC Barcelona’s basketball and handball matches, among other sports, will have a capacity for 3300 spectators. The tickets are now on sale for LVP subscribers on Twitch (from 12:00 for the general public) and can be purchased on the website, starting at 15€.
Organized by LVP (GRUP MEDIAPRO), Superliga brings together the best esports teams in the country. After the finals in Seville (spring 2022), Madrid (summer 2022) and Zaragoza (spring 2023), it now travels to Barcelona for its summer finals. It will be the first time that the competition will dispute its final in the Catalan capital in front of the fans, since the previous occasion (summer 2021) hosted the final but without public because of the pandemic.
The competition repeats the format of previous editions: the top two finishers of the regular season, play a game against each other (July 27) for a place in the final. The winner qualifies directly for the Palau Blaugrana, while the loser will have a second chance. Meanwhile, the third and sixth place finishers play a direct elimination playoff round until only one team remains, which faces (August 3) the loser of the match between the first and second for the other place in the grand final in Barcelona.
The Superliga grand final will be played on August 12 and, like the rest of the playoff games, will be played at the best of five maps. Doors to the venue will open at 4 p.m., and it will also be available to follow in full on LVP’s Twitch channel.
Movistar Riders, against the Superliga curse.
The reigning champion of the competition, Movistar Riders, will fight for the title against the rest of the qualified teams.. Since the maximum League of Legends competition was launched in Spain, only two teams have managed to keep the title, MAD Lions and Giants, although in recent years none has been able to create a dynasty, five different champions: UCAM Tokiers (spring 2021), Giants (summer 2021), Fnatic TQ (spring 2022), Heretics (summer 2022) and Movistar Riders (spring 2023) in the last five seasons.
Superliga is sponsored this season by. OMEN, Intel, El Corte Inglés, Domino’s, KITKAT, Mahou, Takis, Magnum, Imagin, Cacaolat, Santalucia Seguros, Goldcar, Air Europa and Esportsdata.
