The best tablets for which you don’t have to spend more than 300 euros

The Apple iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S series are undoubtedly among the best tablets on the market. These top devices allow you professional photo editing, fast multitasking and the best mobile gaming experience. However, you are moving here in a price category for which you can plan at least 800 euros with an upward trend. Add the appropriate accessories, such as an active capacitive stylus and a separate keyboard, and you’ll be in the four-digit range in no time.

What can a 300 euro tablet do?

However, if you are looking for a tablet for less ambitious purposes, it might be worth taking a look at the lower price range from 100 to 300 euros. Some interesting representatives can be found here that deliver enough performance for occasional surfing and games, messenger services and streaming. With additional input hardware such as a mouse and keyboard, these tablets can even serve as a notebook replacement and then make a useful addition to your office. Most models also make a very good impression in terms of battery performance and allow you to spend hours of cable-free tablet sessions.

What shouldn’t you expect from a $300 tablet?

In general, tablets in this category have noticeably weaker displays, as they result in a lack of accurate color reproduction and a weak maximum brightness. In the case of graphically demanding games such as Genshin Impact or PUBG: Mobile, the joy of playing often falls by the wayside due to the limited computing power. Most cheap tablets have a front and back camera, but if you want to take high-resolution snapshots with high color depth, you are unfortunately out of place in this price range.

The best tablets under 300 euros

In this buyer’s guide, we recommend the six best tablets for which you don’t have to spend more than 300 euros. At a relatively low price you get well-equipped models that are ideal for your everyday applications and also one or the other gaming session.

1. Lenovo Tab P11 Plus

At the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus it is an improved variant of the classic Lenovo Tab 11, which is equipped with the more powerful Mediatek Helio G90T processor and comes with Android 11 out of the box. The 11-inch LC display with IPS panel provides a high-contrast image output, but the color depth weakens a bit. The processing of the tablet gives a high-quality impression thanks to the aluminum housing and narrow rubberized area along the long side. There are four Dolby Atmos speakers for the ears, which draw a convincing sound experience without tinny noises.

In daylight, the 13-megapixel main camera and the 8-megapixel front camera take usable pictures with slight deductions in terms of the details and colors recorded. With decreasing lighting, however, the quality of the recordings drops noticeably. We also miss mobile phone support and a jack on this tablet. The 7,700 mAh battery ensures enduring tablet sessions: With moderate use, it provides an approximate runtime of around 8 hours.

2. Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus

The Fire series from Amazon enjoys great popularity thanks to its low price and good everyday compatibility. The Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus comes with a few improvements compared to the classic Fire HD 10: The back of the plastic housing is now coated with a rubberized “soft-touch surface”, which allows for a pleasant and non-slip feel. In addition, the Plus version has 4 GB instead of 3 GB of RAM. The battery, which lasts up to 12 hours, can also be recharged wirelessly using the separately available charging dock.

An octa-core Mediatek MT8183 Helio P60T (12 nm) CPU is installed as the processor, and you shouldn’t expect benchmark records from it. However, it does its job satisfactorily in simple applications such as streaming, surfing or simple mobile games. Two stereo speakers are installed at the top edge, which deliver a passable quality and you can also use separate speakers or headphones via Bluetooth 5.0. Amazon’s own cloud-based voice service “Alexa” can also be used with the Fire HD 10 Plus.

3. HUAWEI MatePad 10.4

Plastic, aluminum and angular displays are out: that HUAWEI MatePad 10.4 presents itself in an elegant way in a dark gray magnesium housing and rounded display edges. The 10.4-inch IPS display delivers sharp and colorful images, although there is still room for improvement in terms of the contrasts reproduced. The octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 810 CPU delivers mid-range performance and enables smooth multitasking with multiple open apps without annoying stuttering. However, this is not a gaming tablet.

A major shortcoming that should not go unmentioned with the HUAWEI Mate Pad 10.4 is the software:
The use of any Google services (Google Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps) is not possible with all Huawei devices. The Huawei Appgallery, which is the only official source for apps, serves as a replacement here. Unfortunately, you won’t find popular apps like Netflix, Twitter and WhatsApp here. These then have to be installed in a cumbersome way via the Petal Search search function.

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab A7

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 presents itself in a minimalist but chic metal housing. Inside is an eight-core “Qualcomm Snapdragon 662” processor, which is ideal for surfing, messenger services or videos. Unfortunately, it can’t keep up with performance-hungry games like “Asphalt 9” and the graphics settings should be significantly reduced. The battery, on the other hand, has a lot of power and only needs to be recharged after about 8 hours of intensive use.

With a screen diagonal of 10.4 inches and a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels, there is a very high pixel density, which ensures a correspondingly sharp image. When using it outdoors, however, it is noticeable that the screen could have been a bit brighter. The four Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers deliver usable stereo sound that lacks a bit of bass. There is also a USB-C port, a jack for headphones and a memory card slot.

5. Lenovo Yoga Tab 11

In addition to the flat competition, the design of the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 through the cylindrical curvature at the bottom. On the one hand, this houses the stainless steel kickstand, which can be folded out up to 180 degrees if necessary. It can be set up at a suitable angle or hung on the wall. But the four JBL stereo speakers also have their home here, which ensure dynamic and convincing audio playback with Dolby Atmos support.

On a visual level, the 11-inch IPS LC display delivers an acceptable image quality, but unfortunately the maximum brightness leaves a lot to be desired and so not much can be seen in direct sunlight. The Mediatek Helio G90T eight-core processor provides enough performance for all common apps and streaming applications, but it is rather unsuitable for mobile gaming, since stable frame rates cannot be achieved with higher graphics settings. The battery performance is convincing: Only after approx. 11 hours of operation is it necessary to go to the socket.

A MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor is installed as the processor, which easily handles all everyday applications such as surfing and messaging, but tends to weaken when it comes to gaming and multitasking.

The Realme Pad runs with the Android 11 operating system and the in-house realme UI ex works. This is an almost pure Android that is only equipped with a number of preinstalled Google apps and a children’s mode. The Realme Pad is available in two versions: One with 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage and an extended version with 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage.
