Renault Megane E-Tech: when it launches and how much it costs

The carmaker announces prices for key compact electric vehicles that will compete with the VW ID3 and Citroen C4.

Renault has launched prices for Megane E-Tech Electric, one of the most anticipated launches of the car manufacturer in recent years.

Many are based on the launch of the new Megane. The current model, available with diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid versions, will continue for several years.

CEO Luca de Meo hopes to change Renault with its “value, not volume” strategy, which is why it is focusing on the higher-end compact segment instead of small cars.

The current compact offerings of the Renault brand, the Megane hatchback and station wagon and the Kadjar SUV, had poor performance compared to the competitors on the mass market.

Megane E-Tech Electric will compete with a growing number of all-electric compact cars, including the Volkswagen ID3, Citroen C4 and Nissan Leaf. Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra will have fully electric versions in 2023.

However, at the top of the price range, it faces smaller versions of the Tesla Model 3, the best-selling electric vehicle in Europe. Tesla has adjusted the prices of the Model 3 to take advantage of incentives in different countries.

The first Renault electric car, from the second generation of electric cars, built on the new CMF-EV platform, is available for orders from now on in Romania as well.
