Realme GT Neo5 gets unofficial specs list

The Realme GT Neo5 is ready in two versions, with fast charging at 240W (for the Chinese market) and 150W (European version).

Apparently, only the 150W model will make it to Western markets, as Realme wants to avoid any possible complications with premature failure or possible “spontaneous combustion” of the 240W charging model.

According to information delivered by the famous rumor source Digital Chat Station, Realme will ship the GT Neo 5 with a top-of-the-line OLED display, featuring 1.5K resolution (FHD+) on a 6.7 inc diagonal, with 144Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM technology illumination, eliminating any possibility for image flickering. Another key detail is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen chipset, which replaces the mid-range-level Dimensity 8100 solution.

The camera system is powered by the Sony IMX890 sensor, with 50MP native resolution, optical stabilisation and optimisations to maximise light sensitivity.

Clearly, the mere existence of a 150W version demonstrates that the chase for the fastest charging speed over USB-C is not a risk-free ride. Attempting to “optimize” to circumvent these shortcomings, Realme caps the capacity listed on the label at 4600mAh (versus 5000 mAh on the 150W model). At the same time, the manufacturer assures prospective buyers that the battery will withstand at least 1000 charge/discharge cycles until the available capacity drops below 80% of the level listed in the specs. By comparison, the 150W charging version of the phone should withstand 1600 charge/discharge cycles.
