Nike has presented an idea for how it plans to significantly change the way athletes handle warm-up, recovery and other preparation for strenuous physical activities. The idea is known as the Hyperboot, and it is a “mobile footwear innovation” which is designed to “help athletes perform at their best during training and competition.”
According to Nike and their press release, the Hyperboot was designed in collaboration with Hyperice and works by allowing athletes to use thermal and cooling methods, as well as air compression to massage and aid in muscle preparation and recovery, all without being limited to a specific location or position and while also providing limited distraction.
Tobie Hatfield of Nike Athlete Innovation explains: “Understanding athletes is central to everything we do and while we’ve long known that recovery is an important part of any athlete’s journey, we hear from athletes that the concept of ‘pre-covery’ is just as important. The Hyperboot helps get the body ready for activity, whether you’re playing for a title or doing a lot of running at work.”
Washington Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels commented on his time with the shoe by adding: “I am meticulous about incorporating the latest innovations into my training and the way this device combines precise heat and compression technology has taken my warm-up to new heights. The most important skill to have as an athlete is availability and the Hyperboot is an integral part of my routine. It is the first piece of technology I reach for before I take the field – a real game-changer in the way I prepare my body for competition.”
The Hyperboot plans to debut in North America first on May 17, before coming to other markets and regions after that.
