Marc Márquez: “The second has been a real save and the first, rather luck”

MADRID, May 13. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) explained the two scares this Friday in free practice for the French Grand Prix, “a real save” in the second session, and regretted that he is not fast at Le Mans at the moment .

“In FP2 it was a real save and in FP1 it was more like luck, honestly. In FP1 I was on the curb and I lost the front part, so I tried to push with my right knee on the ground and the bike has gotten up,” he said in remarks provided by his team.

The man from Cervera explained the need to improve to maintain faith in the season after fourth place in Jerez. “I’m having a little trouble understanding how to be fast here. I have to turn the bike faster and that’s where we are,” he said.

“We have to improve tomorrow, the goal of FP3 is to be in the top ten for Q2. We’ll see what tomorrow brings, we already have some ideas of things to try,” he finished, after finishing the day fifteenth.

Meanwhile, Pol Espargaró (Repsol Honda) posted the ninth fastest time. “This morning went very well and in the afternoon I tried to improve my lap time, but there were a lot of yellow flags that stopped some of our times. Then on our best lap of FP2 I made a mistake,” he said.

“In the end I felt good on the bike and it wasn’t a bad day, but we have to perform tomorrow to finish with a good position in the standings. We have to start in the first two rows of the grid to perform on Sunday. We have the pace, but we must use it well when it matters tomorrow,” he concluded.
