Liz Truss increases her lead as favorite to succeed Boris Johnson as head of the UK government

The British Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, is emerging more and more with each passing day to succeed Boris Johnson at the head of the Conservative Party and, by extension, to the post of Prime Minister, according to British bookmakers.

Truss and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak are the last two contenders in contention following Thursday’s latest Conservative Party vote, which saw Trade Minister Penny Mordaunt “knocked out.”

Sunak and Truss will now embark on a UK tour ahead of the final vote on September 5, amid favoritism from bookmakers including Sky Bet, Ladbrokes, Paddy Paddy Power and William Hill.
