The League of Legends Super Leaguethe official competition of Riot Games’ game, organized by LVP (GRUP MEDIAPRO), will be back next January 17th with its historic season number 25.
Under its former name Honor Division, this was launched in the year 2012being one of the first national League of Legends leagues in the world. More than ten years later, the competition will reach its 25th season in spring 2024, a milestone that will have several ramifications throughout the course. To this end, LVP has unveiled a “special 25th season” logo that will accompany all the historical content that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
The first content will be a historical review of the 24 national League of Legends finals. organized by LVP: from the first final won by Smart People in March 2012, played in a shopping mall in Madrid, to the last final played at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona, in August 2023, in which Movistar Riders managed to retain its championship title against BISONS ECLUB.
The special programming of these finals, commented by the casters and with information on each of them, will begin next December 24 on the LVP Twitch channel and will conclude on January 16, one day before the start of season 25.
The Spring Super League will start on January 17. with three new contenders for the title: ZETA from Zaragoza, Ramboot from Valencia and CASE Esports from Madrid, champion of the promotion phase, all of them coming from the Superliga Segunda El Corte Inglés. The League of Legends league maintains the format of its last seasons, although now it will be broadcasted on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week. The regular season will end in mid-March and the grand final will be played in April.
Movistar Riders broke the curse of the new cup in 2023, whereby no one managed to retain the championship title, and managed to emerge victorious in the spring and summer seasons. The blue riders will defend the title in 2024 after seeing how another of the top contenders for the title, Los Heretics, emerged champion of the Iberian Cup, the last competition of the year. In addition to these two teams and ZETA, CASE Esports and Ramboot as new faces, the Superliga will have the participation of GiantX, Barça eSports, UCAM Tokiers, Rebels Gaming and Guasones.
The Superliga is one of the first esports competitions in the world to reach 25 seasons. From LVP we believe that we must value the history of the Superliga, as it has been a key factor in the development of the European ecosystem, but also that we must continue to care for the Spanish LoL community, building stories around the competition, supporting the expansion of teams and creating new legends.
