British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has assured this Thursday that the recent images of a bombed kindergarten in the Lugansk region are nothing more than an operation to “discredit Ukraine”, which has blamed separatist rebels for being behind of said attack

“Today, as you have already realized, a kindergarten has been bombed in what we consider to be, well, we know, an operation designed to discredit Ukraine, designed to create a pretext, a spurious provocation,” Johnson said.

“We are very afraid that this is the kind of thing that we will see the most in the coming days,” the British prime minister ventured during his visit on Thursday to Waddington air base, in the county of Lincolnshire (east).

The incident took place in Stanitsia Lugansk, when the school was hit by several projectiles fired, according to Kiev, by “Russian occupation troops”. At least two civilians have been injured.

For her part, the British Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, accused the Russian government on Thursday of “manufacturing pretexts” about the alleged “abnormal” military activity of the Ukrainian forces in the east of the country and of creating a “campaign of disinformation”.

For his part, the British Undersecretary of State for the Armed Forces, James Heappey, warned on Thursday that the tension with Russia over Ukraine could last for “decades” and have long-term consequences for an entire “generation”.

Heappey has asserted that the “strong competition” between Russia and the West could last for many years after Truss claimed that Moscow could be planning a “false flag attack” to justify a possible attack on Ukrainian soil.

Thus, he has indicated in statements to the LBC station that regardless of what the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, decides in this regard “we must be clear that we are entering a new historical period” that could be lengthened.

DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN

Heappey has pointed out that the statements about the alleged Russian withdrawal from the border is part of the “disinformation campaign” since the troops are actually preparing for an offensive.

In addition, he has stated that Moscow continues to deploy soldiers in the area and build bridges to use them in the event of a military incursion, according to information from the newspaper ‘The Guardian’.

“The worrying thing that we have seen in the last 48 hours is not the change that has been announced in Moscow,” he clarified, while expressing that “we are on the verge of a great war in Europe in which thousands of people could To die”.

“I fear it is a disinformation campaign when we see apparent images of Russian troops moving away from the border. All our indicators suggest that the buildup and preparations continue,” he said.
