I knew that Huawei’s launch schedule for 2022 includes at least two high-end mobile phones. One would be the Mate 50 model, which we have been waiting for since 2021, and the second is a new foldable model from the Mate X series. However, it seems that the foldable model has priority, as Huawei has already announced a for next week. The announcement includes the name Mate Xs 2, suggesting that it is a continuation of the foldable model launched in 2020.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 could return to the foldable screen design
Huawei has so far launched four models of folding screen smartphones. The original Mate X from 2019, was sold exclusively in China, Mate Xs, launched in 2020 globally, then followed by Mate X2, with a design similar to Galaxy Z Fold and finally, Huawei launched the P50 Pocket model, which started just a few months ago.
However, the promotional image of the event suggests that Huawei will return to the design with a foldable screen on the outside, which it adopted on the Mate X and Mate Xs variants. In fact, the name Mate Xs 2 and not “Mate X2s” suggests that we are talking about a certain continuity in the company’s folding series. The event is scheduled for April 28, 2022 and will be organized for the Chinese market at 19:00 local time (14:00 in Romania). This suggests either that the phone will not be launched in other regions, or that a global edition may be delayed compared to the Chinese market.
The poster mentions “A launch event for the latest foldable flagship”, and the description on the Weibo account is> (-tr. “Face” worth seeing).
The differences from previous models could be an improvement in the mechanism behind the hinge of the folding phone, the adoption of a newer chipset, probably a model without 5G and improved autonomy. Earlier, there were rumors about a Mate Xs 2 with the model number PAL-AL00, equipped with a Kirin 9000 chipset and HarmonyOS. However, an international version could be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.
