Good news for fans of the dystopian SF “Black Mirror”: a new season is underway. When you can see him

The casting is in progress for the next episodes of “Black Mirror”, according to “Variety”.

Looks like Black Mirror is back. Three years after the arrival of the fifth season of the SF anthology series, Variety writes that Netflix has agreed to a sixth season.

The details are few at the moment, although it seems that the casting is already underway, for a season that is expected to have more episodes than season five. It is said that the new episodes are even more cinematic than the previous ones.

Critics have suggested that the Black Mirror ran out in the following seasons, with its incisive criticism of the direction in which the technology was heading. But the long gap between the seasons could have helped the creative team develop more impactful ideas and scenarios.

Black Mirror will return in its sixth season

However, the long delay between the seasons is not only due to creative reasons. The dystopian series has been suspended due to a rights issue. In January 2020, creator Charlie Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones left production company House of Tomorrow, which had Endemol support. The two set up a new production company, Broke and Bones, which quickly struck a long-term deal with Netflix. However, Endemol retained its rights to the Black Mirror, which meant that Brooker and Jones could not produce more episodes until they or Netflix entered into an agreement with Endemol’s new owner, Banijay Group.

Meanwhile, Brooker and Jones have developed other projects for Netflix. They created Death to 2020, which continued last year. Brooker was also behind an interactive animated project called Cat Burglar, which required players to receive trivia questions to advance the story.

Netflix is definitely happy that Brooker and Jones are working on Black Mirror again. The company took over the series, which debuted on Channel 4 in the UK in 2015. Since then, the SF series has won eight Emmy Awards and a number of other awards, including Bandersnatch, one of Netflix’s first forays into interactive series. .

At the time of this publication, Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for Season 6 Black Mirror. Black Mirror Season 6 is likely to be released by 2023.
