It seems that we are currently staring at a potential record-breaking license plate sale in the UK, as Primo Registrations has now put up the famous AU 1 plate that notably appeared in the 1964 James Bond film, Goldfinger, on a Rolls-Royce Phantom III driven by Goldfinger and his henchman, Oddjob, as the pair smuggled gold out of the country.
The listing is on sale for a starting price of £300,000, but given the notoriety of this sign and the fact that personalized signs are usually highly sought-after goods, it is highly likely that the AU 1 sign will sell for considerably more. If it manages to sell for more than £518,000, it will officially become the most expensive sign in the UK.
There is no word on when the sale will be completed, but it will undoubtedly be a very expensive ordeal.
Thanks, Top Gear.
