Ahead of the release of the next trailer, a new poster for the movie based on the Super Mario Bros. game has also arrived, showing a key video game location as being included in the film.

Not much is known about the animated film yet, except that the cast will include Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong.

New poster for Super Mario Bros. gives significant details about the plot

Illumination has tweeted a new poster for the Super Mario Bros. In the photo we can see the iconic video game location of Peach’s Castle, which is included in the film, apparently borrowing the interior design from Super Mario 64.

The new Super Mario Bros. movie poster isn’t exactly news, since it’s not the first time we can see Peach’s Castle as a prominent location for the animated film.

Given that the new Super Mario Bros. movie poster shows the interior of the castle, apparently borrowing the design from Super Mario 64, it will be interesting to see if the movie borrows other elements from the beloved 1996 game.

Nintendo 64 marked the franchise’s first foray into 3D animation and the semi-open format, as well as a slightly more complicated story.

Additionally, given that the Super Mario Bros. movie trailer indicates that Bowser is trying to conquer and obtain Power Stars, a major element of Super Mario 64, it would be interesting to see if Mario, played by Pratt, will have to venture to other worlds via magic paintings to obtain enough stars to save Princess Peach.
