Interview with Anca Fotache, General Manager Booking Holdings Romania

Anca Fotache: I’m very proud as a Romanian because Booking Holdings decided to open the group’s first centre of excellence here in Bucharest. We plan to make an investment of 100 million euros over a period of 5 years and to create 500 jobs during this period.

The 2022 edition of the largest IT& Digital event in Central and Eastern Europe brought together leading, world-renowned companies, whose representatives held conferences and sessions on 11 stages. The IT Ops stage was partnered by well-known Booking Holdings, the world’s leading provider of online travel and related services, offered to consumers and local partners in over 220 countries and territories through six core consumer brands: Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, Rentalcars.com, KAYAK and OpenTable, as well as through a network of subsidiary brands including Rocketmiles, Fareharbor, HotelsCombined, Cheapflights and Momondo.

The company has recently opened a Centre of Excellence in Romania to train highly skilled and specialised IT staff.

Asked about this Centre of Excellence in Bucharest, the Managing Director, Anca Fotache, told of the reasons for opening such a facility here: “The reasons are very complex and the whole selection process was, in fact, a very complex one, taking into account 8 countries and 11 cities. Bucharest was selected primarily for the human potential we find here.”

Anca Fotache also talked about Booking Holdings’ plans for human resources and investments in Romania in the next 2-3 years: “We have very serious and ambitious plans at the same time. We plan to make an investment of 100 million euros over a period of 5 years and to create 500 jobs during this period.
