Epic new gameplay and RPG elements of Final Fantasy XVI revealed – That’s Gaming

Today, SQUARE ENIX® revealed exciting new gameplay from FINAL FANTASY® XVI, the upcoming new installment in the FINAL FANTASY franchise. During a special PlayStation® State of Play broadcast, more details were revealed about the RPG elements and impressive Eikon combat that players can expect when the game releases on June 22, 2023, exclusively for PlayStation®5. FINAL FANTASY XVI moves players to an epic dark fantasy world, where the fate of the land is determined by powerful Eikons and the Dominants who control them. Players follow the journey of warrior Clive Rosfield, who has vowed to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix.

Images reveal many details about the upcoming game, including:

• New Hideaway advisors – The Hideaway, which serves as the base of main character Clive, offers players the chance to discover more about the world Valisthea, from past to present, by talking with historian Harpocrates. In addition, players can talk with military teacher Vivian, who charts the relationships between characters.
• New training feature – Through the “Areta Stone” in the Hideaway, players can go to a training area. This comes in handy for practicing with combinations of skills, especially after learning a new skill.
• New hunts – The Hideaway also points the way to new adventures, as players can check the Wanted posters to discover powerful monsters roaming the world. Defeating these enemies yields mighty rewards.
• New combat actions – New footage shows several of Clive’s combat actions, including Eikon battles.

SQUARE ENIX also announced that famed singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, who has been popular for generations, and whose single “Lemon” set a record in Japanese music history, has been confirmed as the singer of the theme song “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing.
