Dacia is doing an increasingly good job of establishing itself in the European market. The portfolio is large enough and the prices are good enough that the giant from Mioveni manages to increase its sales when the competition is in place or, worse than that, it goes head to head.
ACEA has published the latest report on the European car market. On this occasion, we find out that the Dacia brand registered a market share of 3.7% on the old continent, between January and April 2022. More impressive than that is the increase of 14.7%, compared to the same period last year. .
Dacia, better than many others
Part of the Renault group, the Romanian company Dacia enjoyed, after the first four months of this year, the sale of 134,356 units. These represent an increase of about 15% compared to the period January – April 2021. The increase is even more impressive, if you look at it in the context of contracting the car market as a whole by 13%. For this reason, we can say that Dacia is the exception to the rule, its share in the entire European car market increased from 2.8% in April 2021 to 3.7% at the end of last month, in 2022.
With this impressive performance, Dacia managed to surpass famous brands, with a much busier history than the Mioveni manufacturer. With 3.7 percent of the market, Dacia is above Seat (3.1% share), Fiat (3.6%), Citroen (3.5%), Volvo (2.4%), Nissan (2, 1%) or Mazda (1.3%).
Dacia bases its success mainly on the Sandero, Duster and, more recently, Spring models. Even so, he was unable to “solve” the losses of his own group, Renault. The parent brand decreased by no less than 21.6%, to 176,990 registered copies. All brands in the French group, as a whole, recorded a decline of 9% in the first four months, to 312,821 units. Overall, the Renault group dropped to fourth place in Europe, while Hyundai – Kia climbed to third place, with an increase of 19.2% to 358,197 units.
