Avatar 2 ‘debunks’ the first film: the lead actor’s opinion that makes you go to the cinema

Avatar: The Way of Water star Sam Worthington, who plays Jake Sully, believes James Cameron’s next film “dismisses” the first movie.

Thirteen years after the release of the first, Avatar: The Way of Water continues the story of Jake and Neytiri (Zoe SaldaƱa), who now have children.

Statement from the lead actor of Avatar

In a recent interview for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he talked about Avatar 2.

“It hits the ground running with the first movie. I’m pretty excited to talk about it because what Jim did is amazing: he made it all about family. And it’s a powerful feeling.

Not only is it visually amazing and you see a part of Pandora that you’ve never seen before, underwater, but it’s about what you do to protect your family. And I think after COVID everyone needs a message like that. It’s about what you would do for those you love. It’s amazing,” said Sam Worthington.

In addition to being the highest-grossing film of all time, the first Avatar also earned generally positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

However, the sequel has the opportunity to explore Jake and Neytiri and their relationship in a way that the first film never did, and that may “put a damper” on the first part.

As well as featuring stunning 3D CGI imagery, you should know that James Cameron put a lot into the first film, creating the beautiful world of Pandora and its inhabitants, the Na’vi.

It remains to be seen, however, whether when it hits theaters, Avatar: Path of Water will appeal to audiences of yesteryear or, equally, whether it will succeed in attracting the attention of new, slightly younger generations of moviegoers.
