At least six killed by Russian shelling on Kharkov

At least six people have been killed and 16 others injured as a result of a suspected Russian shelling on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov, according to local authorities.

Regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said on Telegram that six people have perished after attacks hit a residential area in the Saltivka area.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also confirmed attacks by Russian forces in Lebiazhe and Bazaliivka in an attempt to gain ground in the Kharkov region. According to the Ukrainian Army, the offensive was successfully repelled, Ukrinform reports.

Russia is concentrating in eastern Ukraine the offensive launched in February and which led it at first to even attempt to advance towards Kiev. It aims to consolidate the control of allied administrations in the Donbas regions, which was already the scene of a separatist conflict since 2014.
