At least one dead and seven injured in an explosion in the city of Banaful, in the Sidon district, in southern Lebanon, which has caused damage to a building belonging to the Shiite Amal formation and an adjacent municipal building, as Al Arabiya has reported.
Ambulance teams have gone to the scene of the explosion and the military and security services have launched investigations to find out the nature and causes of the explosion, according to Al Jazeera.
In addition, according to the aforementioned media, the deceased person is Ali Tawfiq al Raz, the son of the mayor of Banaful. Likewise, he continues the removal of debris in case there are people trapped at the site of the explosion.
On the other hand, the first police details suggest that the explosion would have been caused by a short circuit, according to information collected by the media Lebanon24, which has also confirmed that rescue efforts continue.
