At least one Colombian soldier killed and two others wounded in an attack attributed to the ELN in Arauca

MADRID, Feb. 3 (Royals Blue) –

At least one soldier has died and two others have been injured in an attack attributed to the National Liberation Army (ELN) in the Colombian department of Arauca.

As reported by the Colombian Army in a statement, the attack, in which explosives were used, took place at dawn this Thursday, when a patrol was moving through the municipality of Fortul.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Edilson Yovany Roncancio Carrillo, 29 years old. The two wounded soldiers are already receiving medical treatment.

The Army has pointed out that this “criminal action” infringes International Humanitarian Law and violates Human Rights and has assured that they continue working to find the material authors “of this cowardly act.” Underlining his “strong rejection” of the attack, he has also stated that he will report it to the corresponding authorities.
