Armed attack leaves two dead and two wounded in Mexican state of Sonora

At least two people have been killed and two injured, all of them workers of the state-owned Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), after an armed attack in the mountains of the Mexican state of Sonora, in the west of the country.

At around 9:00 a.m. (local time) on Tuesday, it was reported that the CFE workers had lost communication with them after they were attacked while traveling along the Hermosillo-Yécora federal highway, which is why an immediate search was launched, as reported by ‘El Sol de México’.

Following this, the Mexican Armed Forces conducted air and ground patrols in the area, until they were able to locate two people safely.

However, two people have been located lifeless, being taken care of by the expert services for the corresponding investigations, as reported by ‘El Universal’.

A video is circulating on social networks in which a vehicle can be seen completely burned and with several bullet impacts, in addition to the remains of a person burned.

So far the authorship of the attacks is unknown, although the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office has opened several lines of investigation to find the perpetrator or perpetrators, in coordination with the three orders of government of the State Security Roundtable.
