Apple has a new partner for iPhone 15 zoom cameras

Despite the success that other companies have had in recent years with the implementation of high-zoom cameras, Apple has refused to add such cameras to the iPhone. However, it seems that in 2023, the company could be in line with the other top brands. There is still unconfirmed information that suggests that Apple has signed a deal with Jahwa, a South Korean company that produces stabilization and focusing systems for phones, that would supply these components for a new zoom camera module for iPhone 15.

The iPhone 15 could be the model that adds a more advanced zoom camera

Apple is already using sensor stabilization for the main lens, and Jahwa products are also used by Samsung to stabilize zoom sensors. The deal involves the investment of $ 155 from the Korean company, which is expected to build a new plant for these components with the money. Thus, Apple would benefit from its own production line. This is a strategy that the iPhone manufacturer applies in partnerships with many partners, thus ensuring a constant flow of components, without depending on the volume of orders that the manufacturer honors to other companies.

Apple is also one of the only manufacturers in the market to produce large volumes of premium devices. While Samsung, Xiaomi or Oppo mainly sell the models in the cheaper ranges, which do not use such complex parts, the best-selling phones from Apple are each year some of the most expensive in its offer. Jahwa may not even have the capacity to produce at the volume required by Apple at this time.

It has been rumored for several years that we will see a periscope camera on the iPhone, and the year 2023 could be the one in which this will become a reality. Even if it is not one of these, the camera equipped with the new stabilizers could be significantly more advanced than the current 3x. Most likely, however, this camera will be dedicated to the iPhone 15 Pro models, or maybe even just the Pro Max version. The new Jahwa plant is scheduled to begin production of components in the second quarter of next year, ie on time for the start of production of components for the new iPhones.
