BMW’s M division may not be interested in launching a model that rivals the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S or an iconic M7 sedan, but an ultra-powerful crossover is on their “to-do” list.
In fact, its development is much more advanced, as it is expected to premiere in the coming months.
Following the Concept XM presented last year, the BMW XM in 2023 will be the brand’s first autonomous M-brand vehicle from the iconic M1, so it has a lot of weight on its shoulders. As you can see, it will not win any beauty pageant, as it is far from an attractive proposition in the super crossover segment.
It has a facelifted X7-like front, with a split-light signature and large kidney grilles. The hood has a muscular shape, as do the side sills and the rear wings. The sloping roof line ends with a small spoiler and has thin taillights and stacked exhaust pipes, just like the model used as a concept.

A clear indication that we are really looking at an electrified prototype is the yellow sticker on the windshield. Speaking of which, the model will include a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, powered by an electric motor and a small battery pack. The combined power and torque should be rated at 750 hp and 1,000 Nm, making it the most powerful BMW M ever.
In addition, when the battery is fully charged, it may be able to travel up to 80 km.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, the BMW XM 2023 is a few months away from being introduced to the world.
It will come to life at the company’s headquarters in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and from there it will be delivered to global markets.
