Mark Engineering unveils $129 AI bookmark that helps you remember where you left off -.

Technology has gone too far. There I said it. The folks at Mark Engineering have unveiled their latest creation, and it’s a bookmark that uses artificial intelligence to help you remember where you left off with your book, all for the perfectly reasonable price of $129.

This little gadget, known as the Mark 1, is meant to solve the biggest problem that apparently plagues physical books, which is the lack of engagement that a paperback can’t compete with compared to digital alternatives.

It is made of Class 5 titanium for some reason, and is claimed to be “is not just a product, we are an ecosystem designed to make reading engaging and impactful.” and also “a statement of elegance and status”.

It is unclear how the bookmark registers what part of the book you are doing and how to generate a meaningful summary, but X’s announcement thread does claim that the bookmark “tracks your reading pace, subject growth and intellectual progress over time. “See how you improve, refine your habits and optimize what you read next.” and then even provides at the end of each year a “Wrapped” -review.

So if you’re looking for a reading tool that enables social and tracking features like many fitness apps, Mark Engineering’s Mark 1 bookmark might be the tool for you. At least, if you’re willing to spend $129 for a tool that already accomplishes a playing card, a piece of paper or folding the corner of the page in your book….
